Mission 

A department that promotes academic excellence, innovation in research and is responsive to societal needs.

The vision and mission of the Department of Surgery (the Department) is in line with the vision and mission of the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

The ethos of the Department of Surgery is integration of teaching, learning service delivery and community engagement and staff development.

The areas of priority are health service delivery and the development of skills for the whole Province of Province of KwaZulu-Natal. The ethos is also to enhance a culture of interdisciplinary research and collaboration within the faculty.
